scsagh Posted January 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Our flight home from IAH after our Carnival Freedom cruise departs at 3:45 p.m. I wondered if there are any good restaurants within walking distance from the port (we'll be pulling our luggage) to have an early lunch at before heading to the airport? Didn't know if it was worth trying to spend those few hours wandering near the port, or if we should just head to the airport? Does anyone know if there is anywhere to leave luggage for a few hours? Galveston Cruiser Posted January 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2018 The port will store luggage as will the bus station at 25th and Strand. Look at Galveston.com for downtown restaurants open for lunch on your arrival day. Some are closed on weekends for lunch. Eshik Posted January 25, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2018 http://www.fishermanswharfgalveston.com/aboutUs.asp Fisherman’s Wharf is not to bad of a walk. It is a bit pricey but the food is amazing!
ScubaCruiser54 Posted January 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2018 3 blocks up the wharf - Willy G's {$$-$$$} [near Fisherman's Wharf {$$}], Harbor House {$$}; 10 -11 blocks away... Saltwater Grill {$$}, Rudy and Paco's, Little Daddys Gumbo Bar; and then there are a number in the strand.
scsagh Posted January 25, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Thanks for the suggestions so far! Much appreciated. Has anyone been to Shrimp 'N Stuff Downtown (on 23rd St)? Wondered how that was? Darn, it looks like they may only have their breakfast menu until noon on Saturdays.
bradsnana Posted January 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Olympia grill is wonderful and down the road from the pier. I also recommend Nono Tony's . It's a pizza place next to Olympia grill. Great pizza and salad. There are quite a few restaurants in the pier area. IMO, these are the best. I've lived in the Galveston area for over 25 years and this is where we eat. bradsnana Posted January 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2018 The best place for brunch on the island is Farley Girls. It's a little ways from the pier but oh so worth it. It is over behind the Shriners Children's Hospital. I highly recommend the Shrimp and Grits.

They typically have daily specials and I'm sure you can get lunch by 11 o'clock at least.
