sugcarol Posted January 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I'm due to flight out next Saturday and sail Sunday. Will the shutdown affect travel? I'm hoping that they are exempt, does anyone know?
ColoradoGurl Posted January 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2018 No, TSA and Customs and Border Control stay on the job. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
iahawkfan21 Posted January 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2018 While there could be some longer lines/delays potentially, they will still be up and running as they’re considered essential. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
DfDinLA Posted January 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2018 The air traffic control towers and the TSA checkpoints will be fully staffed during the partial government shutdown. They will be working without pay. They will receive back pay when a funding bill is approved.
sugcarol Posted January 20, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks for quick responses. I realize there are more important things than this but I'm like everyone else and so looking forward to my cruise.
iahawkfan21 Posted January 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks for quick responses. I realize there are more important things than this but I'm like everyone else and so looking forward to my cruise. Doesn’t hurt to ask, I imagine many are unsure of how it all works. As active duty military I’m in the same “essential” boat and will be heading in to work today minus my civilian counterparts. Hopefully it’s resolved quickly, but in the meantime flights and cruises are proceeding as is. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
lbjen Posted January 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I would account for some extra time, just in case though.
sandebeach Posted January 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I just posted in the Celebrity forum. We got off Celebrity Equinox in Miami this AM. We were worried that Customs might be impacted by the shutdown, but we had no problems getting through Customs. Several lines were open, Custom officers were present and working hard, and all proceeded quickly.
