Beach excursion in Jamaica help

So I booked with MSC Seaside for April and the ship will be landing in Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Now I want to go on a beach, the two beach excursion offered by MSC is the VIP Bamboo Beach and the Ocho Rios Beach Break. I read the reviews for the Bamboo Beach, it had mixed reviews....but I have no information about the Ocho Rios Beach break, what beach is it at? Is it private? Are there sellers at the beach to the point that they can be aggressive?? Has anyone done the Ocho Rios Beach Break and can tell me what they thought about it?

PS I am going solo and that is the reason I want to book with the ship, basically for security reasons and to be sure I get back to the ship on time. So please do not suggest me to go on another tour company or a cab. Especially with how things are going down there, I don't want to take any chances.

Is there a reason you want to visit a beach in Jamaica? The beaches on the coast near Ocho aren’t all that great. I’ve been to Jamaica at least a dozen different times from Ocho to MB- to negril and even the much less traveled south coast. The only beach I would return to for a beach experience is NEgril and that not an option from where MSc docks. Does your itinerary also take you to grand cayman by chance? If so, infinitely better beaches there. And as a solo, you are aware of the civil unrest in parishes close to Ocho? You probably are, but I’d feel terrible if you were unaware and I didn’t mention anything.

I guess I'll stay in my ship and tan on the boat. But I did hear something, I just don't know what are my options. Also, I chose the Cayman cycling tour in Cayman Island, it brings you all the way to the seven miles beach, reviews seems great about that beach.

I would second the suggestion of going to Margaritaville. It is very close to the pier , in fact it's a great place to take pictures of the ship . And since it is in such close proximity of the pier I am sure that the security would be very good . There were a few vendors at the beach , but they had to stand out in the water and they were not very aggressive . A simple " No thank you " and they moved on.
