help!!! my cruise is ruined!!

well I had it all planned all of it and my sister in law has decided that illegal recreational use is more important then her family and she refuses to get help (this has been an ongoing battle for years) and we have decided to cut her off from our lives until she gets help, which she won't, if she does it will only be temporary and will not last, intervention just doesn't work for her at all so this is our only defense to make sure my daughter is not subjected to her lifestyle.

now here's my problem we were booking 2 inside staterooms and of course our costs were going to be lower 2 adults in one room 2 adults one child in another, now we have to put my daughter in with my mil which of course we will have to pay full price instead of the third person discount. they won't let us book the FO category unless we have 5 people. now i'm willing to book a js, HOWEVER my mil snores REALLY REALLY bad. she's willing to take stuff, i'm willing to get earplugs, will this room fit all of us comfortably? any advice would be really helpful i'm ready to cry.

Are you talking about 5 people in a JS, or 4? Or what......

You will not be comfortable with 3 or more adults in a JS. I wouldn't even do 3, but that's just me...and it depends on what kind of ship. If it's a Voyager, the JS is 299 sq.ft, plus the balcony. If it's a Vision, it's about 45 sq. ft. smaller, not including the balcony.

okay there is 3 adults and 1 child. i just was trying to avoid paying full price for my daughter since it will jump our cruise price up from $1276.40 for all three of us in one cabin to $1436.40 that's me and my dh in one cabin and paying for my daughter in the cabin with my mil. unless i book lower in the ship but they have only have the very front available on the bottom decks.

So next question how bad is the very front of the ship? Cabin wise. This is for the ship Enchantment of the Seas......

Please any advice would be great. My dh says not to worry about it we will pay full price for her so now comes the question is all the way up front inside stateroom really bad for the feel of rocking????

No it is not bad at all. You will be spending most of your time outside of the cabin anyway.. you will be just using the cabin to sleep and change.

If it gets crowded send your husband ( I refuse to use the stupid abbreviations) to the spa, they have huge private showers and dressing rooms.

The Best thing to do is make up a 5th person to go to the FO and when that person does not show up for the cruise, you just move on. They do not care you can tell them he/she is booking later or something or just say nothing.

I have heard and seen several people do this and if you can afford the FO go for it.

Either way do not let room location or choice ruin your cruise. You will be so tired when you get back to your cabin, you will not care if it is shaking up and down or if you hit the disco, it will feel like it is rocking even if it is still.

Have fun ... thats all that a cruise should be for.

I can't comment on the cruise part on what you should do, but on the "illegal recreational use" part I have been been there, about 3 years ago I told my son who was 22 at the time to get out of my house. He was living with his mother (he came to my place under the cover to get help in rehab) who would not set boundries, so I made him leave, when he did not want to go to rehab. Long story short it was a Judge who gave him two options, rehab or jail

he took rehab he has now been clean for over 2 years and doing better.

I guess my point is that you did the correct thing in doing this to protect your daughter. When this type of problem comes up a parent needs to do everything they can to help and protect there kids.

Seriously, I think it's worth the extra money to have them in another room. Especially the MIL, lol. You're only talking about $160.00, right??

I'd cough up the extra if I had to do a garage sale, or something. I'm telling you, you will be miserable if you try to cram yorselves in one room. You have plenty of time to find the extra cash.

Yea when you see your seapass bill at the end of the cruise.. the 160 bucks will be the least of your worries..

We have had four in a jr. suite (2 adults & 2 teens) and I felt there was plenty of room.

On the Enchantment? That's crazy in my mind, LOL.

The JS on the Enchantment is 245 sq. ft., balcony 58 sq. ft, and has 2 chairs, a sofa, and 2 ottomans in it. Too much furniture for 4 people with luggage, I think, and there is no where to store the luggage, as most of it, large peices, will not fit under the beds. We ended up having them take a chair out, and there was only 2 of us.

We put 4 in an interior cabin...

2 adults and one 12 and one 10 year old.... no room for anything.. we always bumped into one another in the MORNING when we woke up and in the EVENING when we went to bed.. but that was our budget and trust me it did not get in the way of anything on the cruise....

We had suitcases coming out of everywhere....

If we could squeeze 4 in an interior.. 4 could definately fit in the JS.. but only problem is on a JS the bed is the sofabed.. so your mother in law would have to sleep with your daughter every night.. but the HUGE closet would give you all alot of storeage space

See, now I thought the closet on the Enchantment was small. But, I like my space. I live in a 3 bdrm, 2bth, 1800 sq.ft. home, ALONE, LOL, and sometimes, it's even too small for me.:) ;)

If you think the closet on the JS is small, take a look at the one in an interior cabin :)... heh.

We had to use downy wrinkle release when we were taking stuff out of it..

but like I said, your in the cabin so little time.. it does not get in the way of anything..

Save your money for the fun stuff. We have had 2 adults and 2 teenagers in our JS the last 4 years of cruising and have had no problems. Don't bring a bunch of stuff you won't need and you aren't in your cabin that much if you are taking advantage of everything there is to do. Have fun!!!

Thank you I feel so much better. We are going to go with the 2 inside cabins. I work from home and I'll just pick up a few more shifts than normal to cover it.

TahoeBob; She may be given the option of jail. A few months back she was caught with a rv full of the stuff. She goes jan 17th to find out, although I think she'll get a slap on the hand.

I am going to cancel our excursion at ocho rios though and book ourselves for a day at Sunset Beach Resort. But keep our grand cayman stringray tour, cuz I am soooo looking forward to that. I feel much better. Hey at least i get to take back her xmas presents and maybe buy some luggage???!!!

I can do better than that....

We had 2 teens and 2 adults in a D1 balcony on the Adventure. Was it tight in there? You betcha! But we couldn't afford 2 cabins and wanted a balcony. Yes, we survived. We didn't spend that much time in the cabin anyway, plus the balcony provided some extra room.

I must be weird then. Because with the balcony, I am in the cabin a lot more. When I cruised in an interior, years ago, I did not spend any time in there, because I felt too closed in. But again, that's just me.

I just can't see me now doing anything less than a D1, worst case scenario. I spoiled myself by getting the JS on the NOS right out of the gate, LOL.....now, I can't go back. Just have to work harder, sell more, and cough up the ca$h, LOL.:D

Yeah, you have a long time to come up with it. Who knows, maybe you'll win the lottery. ;) :) Then you can get the Royal Suite. I wouldn't worry about it right now. Have fun planning!!

I don't have to sell anything or I'd never make it!!! I just take incoming customer service calls for a major corporation. Yahoo!!!!! I think we could have made it with one room, but i'm telling you my mother in law snores like you never believe. It's pretty bad and I have to sleep sometime right???? Thanks everyone. This is our first cruise and I thought great not only did she ruin christmas she's going to our well planned out vacation. And you know how much we put into this planning!!! Oh Merry Christmas Everyone!!! And happy cruising next year.

20 days.........jeez.....wish it was me.:) I have to wait until April.......drat.

I agree, you probably won't want to go back to another interior, unless it's a short cruise or something. My friend and I booked the SOS, and she is taking her 2 kids, who I love like they were my own.(4 and 7 yrs old) BUT, we got the GS, LOL...again for the space....

Yea but these are the longest 20 days.... seems like 100 days away from now... If I do not get on the ship soon I am gonna start my own conga line at work and start drinking at 10 AM and asking my boss where the casino is

Same thing with the two of us :D It's either a JS or *maybe* a D1. The JS's on the Navigator spoiled us as well ;)
