Oranjestad

We are in port from 11-8pm and have book a Horseback Riding excursion. We have the option of returning directly to the pier or continuing to Oranjestad and exploring the town on our own and then be responsible for finding our own way back to the ship/pier. I can't seem to find information on Oranjestad - perhaps I am spelling it wrong? My question is, would it be somewhere you would want to spend a few hours exploring and how far is the ship/pier from there? Thanks!!

Oranjestad is the correct spelling, it is the capital of Aruba and that is where the cruise ship docks. Lots of shopping, casinos, bars. You could wander around and end up back at the ship.

Oranjestad is where the port is. There are shops, restaurants and museums there. So right where you will dock.
