Carpgirl Posted April 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Hi, I'm looking at a cruise 13 April 2019, but the San Juan stop looks like it is at night time. Any ideas why this would be? Thanks:)
boontj2003 Posted April 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2018 I booked this cruise too. I thought it was weird too. Maybe they didn't want us to see San Juan in the daylight? lol
OceansOfTravels Posted April 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2018 The distance from San Juan to Miami is rather long, so instead of having to have a whole additional sea day onboard, they can get there in just one, and arrive very late the second day. The stop is more of a "been there, done that" kind of stop, they just want to bring you there to say they did. You can still get off the ship and have an amazing dinner in OSJ, or go see the forts at night. Also, OSJ has some very good parties and clubs, you could stop at a club for a while before making your way back to the ship. But, the reason it is that late is because the distance is very long and MSC didn't want to use two sea days to get there; if they were going to use two sea days, they would take you to islands like St.Maarten, Aruba or Antigua. Cruiseaptp Posted April 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Am going to look into the evening kayaking tours. They have night tours in the bio bay and the water lights up. I haven't looked into this on the distance from port or if it runs in April.
Rare LisaLisa87 Posted April 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2018 We'll be there at the same times in December. First we thought we'd do one of the bio bay tours, but apparently there will be a full moon and thus it's not a good night for that. Then we thought we'd check out the forts, but it looks like they close at 6pm. If we can get off the ship quickly, we may have time to see the one closer to the port briefly. So our plan now is to walk around OSJ and have a nice dinner. Anyone have a recommendation for an authentic place that's not crazy expensive? I did check the San Juan board, but the only restaurants that got more than one recommendation were more fine dining type places. We don't mind spending some money, but we'd prefer someplace a bit more casual. Sent from my iPad using Forums
