jocap Posted May 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I did wonder about this; is there mooring for cruise ships at the Kona side of the island?
Rare MicCanberra Posted May 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Fantastic footage of the eruption. The could go to Kailua Kona (we went there on our Hawaii cruise as well as Hilo) on the upper west side of the island, but the many of the tours would also be curtailed. We've stayed in Kona, and it was a long drive down to Kilauea- about 80 miles, I think, then back- and there's no point now if most of the area is banned. True... but it's the volcano National Park that many go to see- it's why we chose to holiday on Big Island. But OH enjoyed the snorkelling! But OH enjoyed the snorkelling! Yes, we did a helicopter tour over the volcano back in 2013 out of Hilo, it was amazing. We also did snorkelling out of Kona. It too was wonderful.:D
