We are going on the Gem in a little over a week and are considering getting the social media package to keep in touch with my mom at home. Can anyone let me know how it worked and are you able to video chat on messenger?

With that package you can chat on messenger, but they probably have video chat blocked, because it takes a lot more bandwidth.
