Cruise starts with an in-port overnight: when do you board

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My mom and I are looking at the 9/19 Canada New England cruise on the Gem.

The itinerary says we overnight in port on the 19th and depart QC the next day at 4pm.

I am thinking that this might be one sailing I am willing to fly in the day of to catch, looks like I would be able to get into QC at about 3:00 in the afternoon without killing ourselves.

Has anyone sailed on a ship that overnights its first night? How late can you board on first day? When do the baggage handlers and the ticket staff close up shop?

If our flight were a little delayed and we arrived at port after 6:00 or 7:00, would we able to get on the boat?

We had an unplanned overnight our first day in Japan. We were supposed to leave Yokohama at 8pm and instead left at 8pm the following day. Several people contacted the ship and checked in the day of departure. And I spoke to people who checked in as late as 11pm the originally scheduled day.
