Alaska in early September - when does it get dark?

This will be our first Alaska cruise. For a couple of the stops (Juneau & Victoria,BC) we are there until 10pm. Wondering what we are going to be able to see at that time of the evening!

So can anyone offer any advice on when it gets dark at that time of year at those latitudes?

Thanks!

Chris

There are lots and lots of good sunrise-sunsets on the WEB. Go to Google and find one that you like.

On Sept. 22 the fall equinox occurs when the sun is centered over the equator, and nearly every place on earth has equal sun-up and sun-down time. Prior to that date, the days are a little longer in the northern hemisphere. Alaska time is not centered on "sun time" to make them close to other US time zones, so sun-up is about 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the inside passage on Sept. 22.

We went in early September last year and there are plenty of things to see!

Our stop in Juneau was rainy but we had booked a whale watching/Mendehnall Glacier tour. It was a rainy day so the bus ride from the glacier back into town was getting kinda dark around 6-ish. Went to dinner at Tracy's Crab Shack and even though we had tickets for the Mt Roberts Tram, we decided to skip it (too gloomy) and do a little shopping at the Taku Store.

Our stop in Victoria was a sunny day and we cabbed it over to Chinatown, had dinner at Wah Lei Yuan and walked back to the Inner Harbor, stopping at some shops along the way as well as the Empress Hotel - the IH lit up at night is beautiful

There are plenty of things to do, even after sunset
