I enjoyed reading this. Towards the end I was able to accurately guess what you were going to order based on the menu. Fun. Thanks for the food porn

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Only one more meal to post, Viaggio. Hopefully I'll get to it before the weekend is over. What trends did you notice in my ordering habits? Interesting that you had me figured out, but after 25+ meals, I bet it's not that hard to do.

Day 13

Flam

I got up for breakfast AGAIN today and lunch was SO good.

Cannellini bean soup; 8/10. Undersalted salt.

Mongolian-style beef; 9/10. Not like the Mongolian beef at my favorite on land restaurants, but the beef was so tender, the rice was so fluffy and like all the other Asian dishes it was nicely spicy.

Ravioli with spinach and ricotta filling; 9/10.

I ordered pineapple sorbet for dessert and when I got it and started eating it it looked and seemed...off. I asked the waiter if it was pineapple sorbet, and he said it was vanilla ice cream. Oddly enough, it tasted like banana ice cream to me. In any case, they got me the right desert brought out pretty quickly, and the waiter was really apologetic, but I didn’t mind. In the end I got what I wanted so no complaints from me.

Tonight was the rescheduled Cirque du Soleil Viaggio show. It was a FANTASTIC show. I’ve never seen Cirque on land and now I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to Vegas without catching a show.

Black Sesame Seared Yellowfin Tuna; 7/10.

Pan-Fried Beef Filet Rossini. 7/10. I was not down with the fois gras. I’ve had fois gra before that I did enjoy, so I don’t think it was the fois gras. I also don’t remember being asked when I picked my time how I wanted my beef, but it was pretty rare, which is how I like it, so it was fine. I feel like the temperature was kind of….not warm enough.

Cheesecake mousse; 9/10. Amazing. This dessert had surprise WHITE CHOCOLATE in it and I was living my best life.

Again, water was included, but alcohol was not.

It was Mediterranean night in the MDR, here is the menu.

DAY 14

As is customary, I found the greatest food on the last day. FREE (included with the drink package) GELATO!! I think I remember reading about this, but I didn’t write it down. I went to the Atmosphere Ice Cream Bar and talked to Gershon, the really nice staff member who was behind the counter day after day with a jacket, hat and gloves on, but they didn’t have any flavors I wanted so he told me to check out the ice cream place near the Polar Aqua Park.

When I was walking up I thought it might have been closed.

Awful photos of the gelato.

There was actually a kid on the slides, I asked him if he was cold and he said no. Who knows if he spoke English and could understand what I was saying or not.

Also, it was so weird, I wanted a sample of the gelato but the guy refused to give me one? So I walked away with three scoops of gelato, the mango, pistachio and coffee, when all I wanted was a sample of the mango and pistachio? You know, just one of the spoons with some gelato on it? Bizarre. I will never understand when businesses are unwilling to give you LESS than what you’ve paid for. It seems like a simple way to save money, but hey, if you want to give me two scoops of gelato that go right in the trash, not my circus, not my monkeys.

I skipped lunch, but here is the menu

I could not eat dinner in the MDR tonight because I was too upset about the end of the cruise. I did go say bye to my waiters, and I was asked by one of the guys in a suit if I wanted a dessert to go, so I guess that’s something they do. Here is the menu.

This night in the pub, the live band was singing/playing the SADDEST songs. What a nightmare and strange choice. I couldn’t stay cause it was too sad, so I went back to my room to pack my backpack, and I noticed the minibar was locked, and the items I had in it were removed and put on the counter.

DAY 15

Disembarkation.

Today was incredibly difficult. I got up and out of my room by 815 and went to drop my bag off at the bag drop on deck 5 then headed to the buffet. It was busy but it wasn’t crazy busy. I was able to use my drink package to order orange juice and water. After breakfast I went to the Edge Bar for a little while, again, my drink package worked to order coffee. I knew I was prolonging the inevitable so eventually I just went and got my bag, and left around 10am. I used the MyTaxi app again and tried to order a taxi, but the taxi never moved. He called me a few times but I didn’t answer…. I suppose he was calling to tell me that the correct thing to do is to stand in the taxi line. It was pretty obvious where to go once I left the terminal building.

So yeah, train to AMS, Radisson Blu for the night, included breakfast was tasty then out on the free 7am shuttle to the airport.

Everything was extremely speedy, I was at my Delta gate before 8am, the flight was fine, etc etc.

Back with final thoughts and info about my specific cabin eventually.

Lasagne Portofino; 8/10. Very, very good.

As harola mentioned, the waiters (I do not know if they were or were not from Indonesia….) sang me happy birthday, brought me a cake and made a lot of noise clanging together the plastic plate covers at dinner. It was very embarrassing. I asked very explicitly twice, including when I walked into dinner that night, that a big deal NOT be made about my birthday and I asked my cake to be brought to my room. I am disappointed that my request was not honored. I did not eat in the dining room for the rest of the cruise.

Final days later.

Hey Tina -

Just  reading through your wonderful posts. Do yo recall if the main dining rooms were open for lunch on port days?
