dreamingofoz Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Anyone taken this excursion with a non-swimming toddler? I will be traveling with my 3 yr old grandson. He LOVES stingrays and enjoys the new touch tank at our local zoo. I thought he would enjoy actually getting in the water with them (with a vest on and held in my arms). He tries to climb in with them at the zoo, so I don't think he will be afraid of them. Just wasn't sure what the water depth normally runs since I would not be able to swim since I will have to hold him.
Rare CruisinCrow Posted September 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2018 (edited) We recently did this excursion from Norwegian Cruise Line's Great Stirrup Cay. It's an amazing excursion. The guides are so helpful and knowledgeable and you get a lot of time with the stingrays. I'm sure it depends on the tides, but the water was deep when we were there. The deepest spot is when you first climb down the ladder into the water. It was actually over my head and I had to swim a couple of feet before I could stand. Most of the stingray pen was much shallower though, about chest high on me and I'm 5'6". There was a family with a toddler in our group but I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention and didn't see how they got the toddler out to the stingrays. But she got out there.
