Some info about the Ovation of the Seas cruise

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are a first time cruiser, and we already booked it for May 2, 2019, for a Hawaii cruise. But I have a ton of questions so hope that you could answer all of them. TIA.

1) All the drinks package seems expensive for the 2 of us, I drink a little bit (maybe 1 or 2 beers a day), my wife doesn't drink at all, so could you tell me how much for a beer, or a glass of wine, or a soda at a bar if I have to pay by myself? I know the price will be different next year, but I just need a price now to see if it is worth it to buy any drink package.

2) Can we pay it using cash or anything has to be charged to my room?

3) How much cash should we bring with us? What other activities that we could pay cash?

4) I heard that we could bring 2 bottles of wine to my room, is it correct? How about soda or bottle water?

5) Any advise you could give for first time cruiser will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Beers are $6.50 to $8.50. Glasses of wine start at $8 and go up. A 12oz can of soda is $3.50. Add 18% for tip.

Everything is charged to your stateroom account, no cash (other than casino and any additional tips you might want to give) is used onboard.

Not for that drinking pattern.

There IS a roll call (I am on your cruise!), but it was a bit difficult to locate. It has not picked up too much steam yet.

Looks like most of your questions have been answered. Just have to wait a bit and then start to consider what to pack. My guess - save up lots for the excursions - it does not come cheaply in Hawaii. Although I assume you got a really good deal on this itinerary (I know I have!).

You can use cash for tips, like room service, bars, etc.

Also, for stuff you do on your own in port, like a cab, eating, drinks, gifts, shopping.

Hi "Scott in TX", I see it now, "first timer" mistake :D , I search for the wrong cruise "Oasis of the Seas" instead of "Ovation of the Seas". Thanks.

Thanks Biker19 for quick reply.

Hi phfirstcruise, come join us on the Ovation RollCall. Some cruise info sharing/discussion going on. If you are looking for things to do in the various Ports , you can also check the Hawaii "Ports of Call" boards.
