swansong Posted October 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Having recently returned from Explorer I wonder if anyone has experience of the ‘faster ‘ internet. We were offered this for ( I think ) $111 for 12 nights. We didn’t take this up but were frustrated with the generally slow normal internet. I would consider this in the future but only if it was truly faster. Any comments would be welcome. Sent from my iPad using Forums
captjohn Posted October 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2018 We were also just on the Explorer and read about the same offer. I asked about this from the computer guy. It is called "streaming service" and is NOT faster than or different from the " Free service " except that it allows you the stream music, video ( that's a joke ), etc. The bottom line is that if you pay they won't block streaming content but it's the same speed as the Free WIFI. Hope I have explained this OK. John

On the Navigator WC Dick would spend the $10 a day extra charge the last few days of each segment so he could up date several programs that couldn't up date using the free internet, but it was no faster. swansong Posted October 6, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 6, 2018 Thanks for the information, I wasn’t aware that the service was the same apart from blocking. It took me 30 minutes to download my normal newspaper ( not available on board ) at 6:00 am ( normally 30 seconds at home ) so I can’t believe that streaming can be worth the price.
