Li-shan Posted November 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2018 I am thinking about taking a Hurtigruten cruise to Antarctica or northern Greenland and I have a couple of queries for those who have been on expedition cruises with Hurtigruten. How difficult is it to get into and out of the polarcirkel type boats? I am quite fit and do a lot of walking, but I have rather stiff knees and I wonder if this might be a problem. And what does the medical questionnaire involve? What level of fitness does it ask for, and what medical conditions are excluded?
Rare MMDown Under Posted November 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2018 It wasn't difficult getting in to and out of the polarcirkel boats. Two members of the crew help passengers get in to and out of the boats. They have a hold on your arms which makes you feel very secure. Like you, I am fit and do a lot of walking, but have trouble with my knees, as I age. I have done the Antarctica and recently the Southern Greenland cruises. The medical questionnaire is a simple document, which you complete on your medical condition, which the doctor adds comments to and signs.
