dznymom Posted April 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I guess I am a bit confused about exactly what a PVP is. I booked our upcoming cruise through Carnival, but not with a PVP (never heard of one at the time). I have been pleased and have no complaints. But I have a couple of questions for future bookings. Does a PVP give better service, and if so, what does he/she do? Is there any good reason to switch to a PVP at this point? Does the agent I booked with get a commission? I won't switch if that is the case, because he has been fine. Thanks. Chris in NH Until our GLORY Cruise! Until we are BACK on the Radiance! stlrboo Posted April 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2004 If you called 1-800-CARNIVAL during normal business hours you talked to a PVP! I have been told that after hours you may talk to an 'Associate', but I have my doubts. I'm guessing they are all PVP's, or an 'in-house' travel agent being paid by Carnival. The first one I talked to said they are not on a 'commission' basis.. dznymom Posted April 4, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I guess I have an Associate. I called with a question last week, and when the girl answered I told her I had a PVP and would like to speak to him. When I gave her his name she said he is not a PVP. Anyway, he wasn't in and she answered my question so it's no big deal. I just wondered what the difference is. It seems that many of the regular posters here use PVPs and speak very positively of them. Are they able to offer better prices or some other advantages? Chris in NH Until our GLORY Cruise! stlrboo Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I really think that anyone who answers the phone there in 'vacation or cruise planning' and assists you in making your cruise plans is referred to as a 'Personal Vacation Planner' as that is how Carnival refers to who you talk to there in their ads and in the brochure. I have never asked for a PVP, but everyone I've talked to has been able to book cruises, answer questions and even give cheap upgrades!
