At least you got something, signed up for Cooks Illustrated and got nothing.  Send the bill to Guest Relations.

No, it should be free.  But, it's only the first year.

 

If you ask for automatic renewal, you will get billed (not saying you did, just mentioning it for the benefit of anyone who it may help).

 

You have to go into the HAL site each year and re-sign up for the magazine to get the free subscription.

 

Otherwise, you shouldn't have been charged.
