How do I get the facial recognition app for royal caribbean

Going on the Symphony of the seas in February. I have read that they are using facial recognition to check in at going through customs. I can not find out anywhere how to get the app anyone use it yet?

There's no app that does facial recognition on Royal.  You upload a photo as part of online check-in, and they use that photo for facial recognition later.

You may be conflating a number of technologies.

 

Customs & Border Protection have a mobile passport app for mobile devices. The app facilitates clearing customs & immigration when returning from a cruise. It is available for the port of Miami. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/mobile-passport-control

 

There is also supposed to be a RCI app that allows one to use a mobile to upload a picture and set up an onboard account before departure. One is then supposed to be able to simply walk onto the ship. I have yet to see this app in an app store.

The latest app (and only one being improved at this point) is this:

There is another app in use called Royal IQ, but this is being removed from the ships and replaced with the app linked  above.  I believe only Quantum class ships are still using Royal IQ.
