Prinsendam elevators -- warning!!

I just heard from SJSULIBARIAN who is doing the 14 day Prinsendam holiday cruise.

This ship has 2 front elevators and 2 back elevators.  One of the front elevators has constantly been out.  One day both front elevators were out.  She was talking to another person and reports are that both back elevators go out from time to time.  On port days, there are long lines for the couple of working elevators.

Other than the elevator issue, the ship is in fine condition -- crew constantly cleaning and painting.

I don’t think elevator issues are new.  We sailed Prinsendam 2014 and various elevators were often down, along with the cabin AC and HVAC in common areas.  Common areas reeked of smoke and there was a visible smoke haze in areas adjacent to the casino.

Thank you for that information.  We were scheduled to sail on her in 2007 but she had to go in for an emergency dry dock and our cruise was cancelled.

I would not be happy to be on a ship with AC breaking down a lot.  And now that I have to use a Rollator, I have no choice but to use elevators.  Can't handle steps anymore.

I am on the cruise and relying on the elevators as I am currently using a walker having broken my leg earlier this year. All 4 are working today, but 1 of the forward elevators was down for 5 out of 7 days so far. This makes getting on and off the ship much more difficult as most times the gangway is deck 4 forward and lots of people waiting in line to use it.

Other than the elevator issue, I haven’t noticed too much to be concerned about, our cabin is very nice, no plumbing issues. Staff have been very friendly and helpful.

Thanks for your updated info and enjoy your voyage on the elegant explorer
