Racer70 Posted January 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2019 (edited) Take this recent article for whatever you deem it to be worth. I know there is also major crime in other US cruise ports such as Baltimore, Bayonne, Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Tampa and New Orleans. We're scheduled to sail out of San Juan for the 2nd time July 2019 on RCI's Freedom of the Seas and can't wait as we're flying in a day earlier to explore OSJ. As they say, "be aware of your surroundings at all times, wherever you are". https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/a-wave-of-violent-daytime-killings-has-puerto-rico-on-edge/ar-BBScLxm?ocid=edgsp Edited January 14, 2019 by Racer70 typo

alfaeric Posted January 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2019 For sure, it's not Old San Juan- we just spent a week there, and I would not consider it dangerous. Heck, even went down to La Perla for dinner, and it was a lot better than I thought it would be.
Aviator of the Seas Posted January 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2019 This article is blowing things out of proportion. Murder and violent crime is actually way down in Puerto Rico, and it is almost always all drug trafficking-related. There is no "wave of daytime violence". There were a couple of incidents over the past few weeks, and they are only highlighted or notorious because they were filmed on cell phne cameras and posted online.
