WonderMan3 Posted February 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2019 I have a question I hope some Americans who have gambled on MSC can answer. If you are American and hit a jackpot ($1200 or over) on an MSC cruise sailing in EUROPE will they issue you a W2G tax form and report the winnings to the IRS? I ask this question because MSC is not a U.S. based company and we would not be sailing through U.S. ports when sailing in Europe. I have also heard that the slot machines are all set to Euros. I am guessing that when MSC sails out of U.S. ports to places in the Caribbean, etc. that the tax rule is in effect as I have heard that all the machines are changed to dollars for those sailings. I always get a tax form when sailing with Celebrity, NCL, etc. but those are U.S. based companies. I know that MSC has offices in the U.S. so I'm not sure if that counts as being "U.S. based" and therefore Americans are subject to the cruise line reporting winnings to the IRS or not or if that only applies when an MSC ship is sailing into/out of a U.S. port.
