Hi going on above cruise and wondering if anyone else has docked in La Verdon have heard its a container port but we dont fancy a long drive into Bordeaux is there a shuttle bus to nearby Soulac Sur Mer. And the other question is whats the best way to get into Bilbao from Getxo as we don't fancy a shore excursion please can anyone help.

We were on this cruse last year. We were all prepared to get the shuttle to Soulac sur Mer but docked in La Rochelle instead (port strike in La Verdun) - the destinations guide on board confirmed that a shuttle would have been provided.

The port of Bilbao provided a shuttle bus into the city free of charge - very efficient.

Many years ago we did a camping holiday ending up on a nice camp site in the pine forests which was excellent. However Soulac sur Mer was like a Victorian sea side town and it existed on trade in July and August which is the traditional holiday month for the French. We were there in late June and quite a few shops were not open!  It may well have changed now but I would do a google search for tourist information
