Comparable to Mr. Sanchos

Does anyone know if San Juan has anything comparable to Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel?

No. Two very different destinations. Even though Puerto Rico has absolutely breathtaking beaches, San Juan, as a port of call, won’t most likely give you enough time to fully enjoy them. Some people head to either Condado or Isla Verde, both lined with high rise condos and hotels, and find the public access and look for a spot on the beach. These are more “city beaches”, like what you’d find in Miami or Ft Lauderdale. The truly postcard perfect beaches are farther away. 

 

Do know that, in Puerto Rico, beaches are considered public and, by law, they must be accessible to everybody. So the concept of a “beach club” with a section of beach reserved for its guests is non-existent.

 

San Juan’s population is over 1 million, and you dock right in Old San Juan. Many cruise passengers choose to spend the day exploring the old city, with its beautiful 15th century arquitecture. There are forts, cathedrals, museums, shops, but more importantly, many wonderful and quaint restaurants to choose from. 

 

Other people choose to take a day trip to the rainforest, but keep in mind that although it has regained its lush green, it will be years before it looks the way it did before the hurricanes.

 

There are tons of other things to do in Puerto Rico, enough to keep you entertained for a week long land vacation. But unfortunately many of these places won’t be reachable with only a few hours in port. 

 

Have a wonderful time! Puerto Rico is without a doubt one of the most diverse and breathtaking destinations in the Caribbean.

Hello was wondering if you could tell me how far away is Isla Verde beach ? And how much would it cost to take a taxi there for 2 adults and 2 children...

Isla Verde Beach is about a 20 minute drive from the cruise terminal. I don’t know how much a taxi will cost but do know that Uber is widely available and it’s very affordable. I’ve taken an Uber from Old San Juan to the Sheraton Hotel and Casino and it’s usually $5. I’m guessing that an Uber to Isla Verde will be about $10-$15
