scoochy12 Posted April 29, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2019 Hi, We are exploring what to do on this port day. Our cruise has a tour to Lillesand. We like to DIY instead of cruise run tours. We will be there last week of May this year. From what I have seen so far it looks like the independent boat tours do not start until the end of June. A few questions for the locals and those who have been there.... 1. Is there another way to go to Lillesand at this time of the year? 2. Do you recommend taking the time to visit? 3. Is there somehwere else you would suggest or in addition to visiting? TIA.

I feel like you could rent a car and drive there on your own. It's a cute little town. I'm not sure there is a ton of things to do in Lillesand, which is why the tour combines the boat trip. I personally feel that there's a lot more to see in Kristiansand than Lillesand. We took the tour where we took a bus to Lillesand and a boat tour.... a word of advice, if it's raining a lot, do NOT take this tour. They won't cancel the tour, and everyone was absolutely soaked - even with umbrellas and rain jackets. It gets cold (at the end of July even!) and everything on the boat was completely soaked in water...we couldn't see much outside of the boat as it was all dreary and rain was coming in. Everyone was pretty miserable over the experience. I couldn't feel my fingers or my feet as my shoes were drenched! I really enjoyed the second half of my afternoon much more where I explored Kristiansand by foot.
