Need help choosing cabin on Carnival Conquest

We are in the process of booking a cabin for 4 on the Conquest in late July. Do we need to worry about being too far forward or on a higher deck in terms of motion? Are the cabins below the lobby, dining rooms, galley, lounge, or below or near the pools noisy? What about engine or anchor noise, or ramps used for disembarkation at ports?

The following inside cabins are listed as curently available: 1052, 1053, 2220, 2221, 2303, 2317, 2329, 2333, 2337, 2341, 2353, 2385, 2421, 6477, 8205, 9239.

Outside cabins in 6A are: 2222,2223, 2247, 2251, 2262, 2263, 2266,2267, 2308

Has anyone been in one of these, and if so, what was your experience with the room, especially noise, motion, or smells?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I would suggest you very carefully study the deck plans. Either get a brochure, or go to www.carnival.com, click on funships, click on Conquest, then click on deck plans. You'll have to click several decks in order to get an idea of where the rooms are locates. Use the elevators as a reference point to line up the decks. You do not want to be under or over the disco, lounge, promenade or the casino!! :( I would not want to be under the main pool either: too much reggae music all day. Staying over the shops is usually ok. If you are over or under the theater, you will hear them rehearsing during the day, but that can be good or bad depending on your opinion! The forward dining room is only noisy at dinner time, so it's usually not a problem with noise because you will be out and about, or getting ready at that time. Most Carnival ships only use the aft dining room for lunch and breakfast. So it's ok to stay under the forward dining room, but I wouldn't recommend staying under the galley.

I like to stay mid ship or forward, as that seems to be the least rocky. Also, try to stay as high as possible. The motion is not that bad, and the rooms are generally quieter. The Riviera Deck can be noisy when they lower the gang plank and anchor, especially forward. You also infrequently get engine fumes on that deck. Consider where the elevators and stairs are located in relation to your room. You don't want to have your room be right where everyone congregates to meet their friends. Also consder where the cabin stewards will congregate: Look for blank rooms: those are the laundry and supply rooms, don't stay near one of those. I strongly recommend an outside cabin! The inside ones I have visited just seem claustrophobic to me. For the most part, the rooms are pretty quiet. I've stayed in room 1252, 2250, 6285, (on Valor and Triumph) and will stay in room 6235 next month on the Liberty.

One other point: hurricane season starts earlier every year, and lasts longer due to global warming. Make sure you're out of the Caribbean by August.

Good luck, and enjoy your cruise!

The best deck to stay on is the Empress deck-- between two decks of cabin space and no public areas.

those cabins you are seeing available..- there are more-- jsut not listed. Every cruiselines will only show 7-9 of any category available at a time.

Make sure you are viewing for 4 people. Not all cabins accomadate 4 people.

for 4 people in one cabin-- what is the price difference of the 3rd and 4th compared to the 1st and 2nd.. Sailing in July-- If there is not much of a price difference--get two cabins. if its considerable amount difference then all go to one cabin.

Riveria deck is one of the quietest deck around. If you are foward on any deck you will hear the anchor drop--- if its a tendered port. the anchor is not dropped all the time. and it is very loud and only lasts for a few seconds. As for the gang plank-- most ganways are on level 0 which is below that area.

Not all blank spaces are laundry cabins or supply rooms. (some are not even listed on a deck plan. (ex--you wont find any laundy rooms on a deck plan for Spirit class ships. )

Cabins on the Riveria deck are cat 4A and 6A the Main deck- which you have listed are "B" 4 and 6B Some of which are located under the galley. the higher you go up on the ship the more you will pay in price

Forward cabins will feel most motion on any cruise but because of stabilizers on the COnquest it should not be a problem unless you hit rough waters. (I prefer aft-back)

The higher you go the more motion that will be felt. the lower you are and more midship the less you will feel.

As far as engine fumes????

I am sorry if a lot of this is conflicting information-- but please head to the Carnival board and ask the question there..

We were just assigned cabin 6231 on Liberty for November. Your cabin is right next door, would you let me know what it was like (noise, motion)? Thanks so much.

Is the noise under the galley really that bad? We are in room 2374 (4B), this is our first cruise and I don't want to be disappointed!

We had cabins 2373 and 2375 and loved the location. I didn't hear noises from overheard at all. Our last RCI cruise, we were under the galley and kept hearing rolling noises which I guessed were from carts but nothing this time. We were just a few cabins down from the midship elevators and could go directly up the the Lido deck for coffee and/or breakfast. I could be up and back in 5 minutes. The cabins are really midship, just slightly aft, and I didn't notice any problem with movement either. We had the Renoir dining room and just walked up one flight to get there.
