mojean Posted April 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2004 If you're staying in a hotel, they usually have all types of brochures in the lobby. The hotel desk clerk will usually call for you. We did the swamp tour (crocodile/alligator?) It was great. Who say's heaven isn't right here on earth?? Did the swamp tour and the mansion tour. got lucky on that one as we were the only ones on it. Both were great. Just went to the hotel and asked concerige(sp) he had us set up within minutes and they picked us up at hotel.
cammie810 Posted April 16, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 16, 2004 We have been to New Orleans many times. Right near where the ship docks is Jackson square. There are many horse and carriages there. They will give you a tour around the French quarter that is fun and quick. If you have lots of time you can take the streetcar all the way to the end and back. That gives you an oppurtunity to see the houses in the garden district as well as Tulane University and Audobon park.
Cotton Posted April 16, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Hey Peanut. Could you be a little more specific about what you would like to do? There are many touring companies in the city, doing various type tours: Swamp tours, Ghost tours, Walking tours, Cemetary tours, etc. Also - How much time are you talking about? Are you staying overnight or longer? A lot would depend on the amount of time. SO, if you give some details on your stay, I'll be glad to offer some great tour suggestions, ok? nlt46 Posted April 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2004 As was stated above, we took a horse and carriage tour that we got on at Jackson Square. It was fun and we learned a lot. The kids really enjoyed being in the carriage and I liked the talk. The hotel will set you up with others. Also across the street from Jackson square is a tourist information area. They too can help you. Nancy 99 Norwegian Sea 00Triumph 01 Victory 01 Spirit 02 Inspiration 02 Conquest 03Dawn Princess 04Celebration
Cinderellie Posted April 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Hi -- we've been to NOLA before with our kids -- we are there for a full day after the Conquest cruise over Labor Day. What would you suggest? And what's the weather like then --- 1st week in September? We already did the swamp tour and paddleboat tour, and the aquarium. Would any of the ghost tours be OK for a 10 year old girl and 14 year old boy? Thanks!
