It is for a very good reason. Just read the contract you signed to print your set sail pass. Royal (or any other cruise line) has no obligation to take you to any port. Whether you booked it specifically for that port or not. And you agreed to it or you wouldn't have a set sail pass. Yup. More issues are caused by people missing the details on things than almost anything else when it comes to cruises/travel. Those same folks are often near the front of the complaint & “ compensate me somehow” lines. Sad part is the “itinerary subject to change” disclaimer print is right there on the itinerary description pages.
davelinde Posted June 23, 2019 #52 Share Posted June 23, 2019 Years ago we also missed Roatan because of high wind. We were a bit concerned because we had a shore excursion booked privately and prepaid. They refunded it. I still remember the ship comedian critique... back then there had been a spate of cruise problems and the comedian mocked it by quoting the captain as deciding we could not dock due to high wind and that he knew the winds were high because of how violently the flags were whipping about... on the flags of the ships docked there. More recently I've missed ports due to health issues on the ship and now we are will miss Havana due to high winds (political this time).
