First of all, how many of you will need the transfer and where are you staying before the cruise? If only a couple of you, I would suggest the airport Skybus which will drop you off at Southern Cross Railway Station or if you are staying at Docklands or Southbank, there is a service stopping at a number of stops convenient to hotels and apartments.

We are a family of 5 and we haven't done hotel yet - but more than likely a marriott property

There are six Marriott hotels in the city or close by. With five of you, I would take a maxi taxi which would fit you and your  luggage in. Maxi taxis should be available when you come out of the terminal. I did a fare estimate and it worked out to be less than $80-90 depending on time and day of the week. I would suggest googling the various transfer options and see what is best for your family.

 

As for a tour company, it depends what your interests are and the ages of the members of your family.
