Radiance NB photo review

We just finished our first Alaskan cruise, we being my wife and I, both Floridians and both flirting with middle age. We did the Aug 9 NB on Radiance of the Seas with 2 days pre cruise in Vancouver and 3 days post cruise in Denali, all on our own. In Vancouver we did a guided tour of Victoria and post cruise we rented a car in Anchorage and drove to Denali where we stayed for 3 days. All I can say is wow, what an amazing trip, Alaska is a special place to say the least.

        I'm a pretty busy guy who doesn't have much time to sit behind this laptop with details that has already probably been covered on this site so I figured I will try to keep this to pics only with minimal words. 

    Over the years I have got some good advice from this site, one being to buy a good camera for Alaska and learn to use it, so about 5 months before our sail date I bought the Panasonic Lumix FZ-1000 and it did not disappoint. Along with the FZ-1000 some of the pics are from a iPhone 10s which are pretty good as well.

It was a long day by the time we left River Rok in Vancouver, took the ferry to Victoria BC, toured Victoria and Butchart Gardens but it was worth it.

Was a little bored with the gardens so I started playing with macro shots.

After Victoria it was time to get the cruise started. We spotted the first whale tale about an hour out of Canada Place and the wife was stoked.

After spotting the whale just an hour into the cruise, the wife was into searching out more wildlife.

Soon after we arrived in Ketchikan I spotted the Carnival Legend where a friend of mine was onboard.

    Then we were off to see black bears with Island Wings.

Leaving Ketchikan and heading to Icy Straight Point the scenery was pretty.

Icy Straight Point was a nice port, more authentic than touristy and we seen quite a few whales and seals with Glacier Wind Charters.

Tim from Glacier Wind told us of an Eagle nest with mom and chick still in it not far from the pier so after whale watching we were lucky enough to find it.

Question for you:  who is "Tim" from Glacier Wind.  I know Shawn (owner) and Casey (their son) but have never heard of Tim.

After Icy Straight it was on to Juneau where we had booked the Tracy Arm trip with Adventure Bound.

After the long day with Adventure Bound we took a ride up Mt Roberts.

Moving on to Skagway where we rode the train, did some shoping in town and caught a buzz in the Red Onion Saloon.
