Costa mediterranea 7 day itinerary looks good to us:

1. Singapore 8pm

2. Sea day

3. Langkawi, Malaysia 8am - 7pm

4 +5 . Phuket 7am - 6:00pm

6. Penang 8am - 6pm

7. Port Kelang 8 - 6pm

8. Singapore 9:00 am

We had never sailed with Costa Mediterranea and it appears to be an older ship.  Reviews are mixed but cannot find one out of Singapore. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

In Malaysia, how far from cruise ship port to city center?

This will be the first time that the Costa Mediterranea is based in Singapore (the Med is my favourite Costa ship, nice size and layout). Don't forget the majority of cruiser who enjoyed their cruise do not write reviews, most reviews are from disgruntled guests - so take them with a piunch of salt and make up your own mind.

There are two cruise terminals in Singapore, Harbour Front next to Vivo Shopping Mail and Sentosa Island, there is an underground station in the terminal. The other cruise terminal is Marina Bay, the underground station is about 600 meters away. Taxis in Singapore are plentiful and still cheap to use. I would think The Costa Meditewrranea because of it's size will be in Marina Bay.

After her season in Singapore, the Costa Mediterranea will be transferred to a Costa / Chinese joint venture cruise line for the Chinese cruise market.

Penang, Malaysia

I did enjoy Penang - very walkable. Cruise ship terminal is very close to George Town city centre.

I did stroll  through the historic district of George Town,  and enjoyed the wonderful and fun street art.
Ernest Zacharevic was commissioned in 2012 by the Penang Municipal Council to create a street art project in Georgetown called ‘Mirrors George Town‘ which consisted of painting several large scale murals in different location of the old town.

Below two videos from my visits - also link to  review of the days and some  additional info

You have three port stops in  Malaysia.  Langkawi is a smaller island you can walk of the ships and be very close to many things.  Beaches site seeing etc, but one of the main attractions is Kilim Karst Geoforest Park which is about one hour away, well worth the trip. If you make this trip and use a private tour do not prepay, as they drop you off at the park with the tickets needed and say they will wait.... some have reported no car waiting at the end.... Yes happen to us, so we just hired a taxi.... Even with the extra fee much less than the ship cruise price.

Penang  You are close to the city center, you can walk to it about 20 to 25 minutes, or take a taxi many just outside the port.  If you walk understand it will be hot so people with health issues take note.

Port Kelang is billed as Kuala Lumpur but it is not, it will take you  about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the city, depending upon traffic could be as short as 50 minutes.  If you want to see the City you will need to get into it. We have gone to the city and had a great day, also just stayed around the port and that was also good. Many things to do around the port.

Hope this helps your trip.
