37645 Posted November 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Hi all! I’ve got a quick question for experienced travelers to St. Thomas. We will be here soon and have decided to not book anything and just explore/shop, etc. We will be docking at Crown Bay. I tried to see about how to get to the actual town area via shuttles etc, something other than a taxi but wasn’t able to find much. Are taxis the only option to get from Crown Bay to the town area? If so does anyone happen to know the recent price for two people to get there? Also does anyone have the name of a reputable safe company of taxi that they would recommend using? We would appreciate any and all advice. Also, we saw that there is a ferry to St John available from Crown Bay. Has anyone done this that could please provide their opinion on it? Would visiting this island be better than exploring the town of St Thomas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 😊
Ms411 Posted November 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2019 The Crown Bay ferry schedule won't work for most cruise passengers. Taxis are the best way to get around. Fare should be approximately $5 per person each way. Many people walk, but it's not a scenic route. Town is undergoing heavy construction right now and has been for at least 2 years so it's not at its best. Let me check on something and post more later. Ms411 Posted November 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Emerald Beach is very close to Crown Bay and is a nice place to spend the day. The restaurant there has a black bean/plantain burger that is suitable for a vegetarian. https://www.facebook.com/caribbeanfusionvi/ Taxi fare is $4 per person each way.
