late flight Shanghai tour options (Princess cruise)

I'm deciding between 2 return NS flight at 12:30 and 23:45 disembarkation day in Shanghai. It gets more complicated bc it's on the 2nd half of a B2B just visiting Japan (only 1 country other than China). I'm confused:

1. Do I need a visa

2. Is there a looong disembarkation tour on Princess cruises

3. Should I run into the consulate? Would take all afternoon
