Djptcp Posted December 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2019 Last month DH and I sailed on a 4-day Liberty Bahamas cruise and had a great time. My complaints were aimed at the lack of training for special needs passengers by the ground crew (snarky and not at all helpful. It took the third person we asked to finally direct us correctly to the wheelchair area) and how Terminal 5 at Port Canaveral just wasn't set up for those of us who have mobility issues. This week we took the same cruise but it left from Terminal 6 and the difference was night and day. This Terminal allows one to be dropped off right by the entrance to the Priority boarding door and the ground crew was terrific. Very friendly and concerned about my mobility issues (I need a wheelchair to get on and off the ships, but not once on board where I use my rollator a lot). I didn't have far to walk at all to the wheelchair area and was on board immediately. I commend the ground crew at Terminal 5 for their friendliness and helpful attitudes. I mentioned this today to the wheelchair pusher and he agreed that Terminal 5 is not suited for special needs passengers. The cruise was great and we still love the Liberty and its crew. The casino wasn't as good to me, however, as it was last month. 😢 This was our 38th Carnival cruise and 52nd cruise overall.
Sauer-kraut Posted December 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2019 You realize that ground crew are not Carnival employees and are hired by the Port Authority. I would write of your accessiblity issues to them at the following address: Canaveral Port Authority 445 Challenger Road, Suite 301 Cape Canaveral, FL 32920Phone: (321) 783.7831
Bostwick girl Posted December 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2019 We also were on Liberty in November and again on December 2 cruise for a back to back. My DH uses a mobility scooter and we had absolutely zero problems with either the crew at Terminal 5 or Terminal 6. Guess it just depends on who's working on what day. Djptcp Posted December 14, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted December 14, 2019 DH works one or two days a week for the cruise lines (Intercruises) at the Port of Tampa and even before he started working there last year, the ground crew there was always friendly, helpful, and very concerned about my mobility issues. I was used to that scenario and that's why the crew at Terminal 5 surprised me with their cavalier and unhelpful attitude. The Terminal 6 crew were like the great ground crew members at the Port of Tampa and I let them know how appreciative I was. Thank you Sauer-Kraut for the Port Canaveral address. candasmom1 Posted January 7, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2020 (edited) Hi! We're sailing on the Liberty this month. Was there a cooking demonstration? That is something we enjoy attending. Thanks Edited January 7, 2020 by candasmom1
