Costa Maya with kids

Hi our group will have 2 kids ages 6 & 8. Can you recommend a place to go that will be fun for them? Also does anyone know if your allowed to use a metal detector on the beach? Thanks

There's the waterpark just outside the cruise port.

Inside the port there's a dolphin swim, pool etc.

Along the beach in Mahahual, Tequila Beach has some water activities. At Blue Kay you can snorkel and possibly see some marine life.  All other beach clubs are just beach clubs.

 

Not sure about the metal detector use.  But very doubtful there's anything of interest, assuming you can wind your way through the crowds.  It's one long beach. All the beach clubs run together

I would go to Maya Chan.  There is nothing in Costa Maya better than this place and it's consistently the best day we have on every cruise we take that lands in Costa Maya.  They won't care if you want to use a metal detector.
