Does a fcc have to be used to pay a cruise?

Just curious..we will get a fcc covering our deposit so wondering if it could be used on the ship?

As I understand it, If the FCC was for part of the cruise fare (which a deposit is) it has to be used against a cruise fare.

If your. FCC was for items you had purchased in the cruise planner then you could use it for purchases from the CP  on another sailing
