jonikal Posted August 6, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2020 Let's hope Ponant has better luck than Hurtigruten. http://icepeople.net/2020/08/06/covid-19-cases-from-roald-amundsen-rises-to-53-french-luxury-ship-continuing-svalbard-cruises-beginning-this-weekend-trade-minister-discusses-tourism-crisis-during-visit/
resistk Posted August 6, 2020 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2020 (edited) They can continue their folly but with less than 100 on board under Norwegian law. I don't understand why a cruise line would want to take this sort of risk when they know COVID can show up on their ships regardless of their precautions? Nor do I understand the motivation of the passengers when the consequences of getting stuck on a ship with COVID is a possibility. Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted August 6, 2020 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2020 Maybe this quote from one of the passengers on the Uncruise sailing in Alaska will help you understand that other people can have different opinions: Uncruise passengers tend to be sophisticated and adventurous travelers and we all seem to be taking this in stride. People were aware of the risks upfront. Out of the usual hundreds of thousands of cruisers over the Alaska summer, the 37 of us got three days of kayaking, bushwhacking and whale watching in a beautiful part of the world. resistk Posted August 7, 2020 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) The problem is that cruises can act as a vector spreading disease otherwise I have no problem if people want to endanger themselves. Edited August 7, 2020 by resistk
schnapperin Posted August 7, 2020 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2020 The big difference between Hurtigruten & Ponant is the Request for a negativ Covid19 test. And I do think that this trip includes a charter flight from and to Paris.
