Rare lyndarra Posted December 11, 2023 #12734 Share Posted December 11, 2023 Correct. It's good that photos don't record and replay smell as this tannery would knock you right over. Your turn.

I bought a wallet there years ago and it still smells but much fainter of course.

Rare Yaya_in_Oz Posted December 11, 2023 #12740 Share Posted December 11, 2023 That's right possum52. Despite living in Ballarat for 2 years as a girl with quite a few return visits I never knew the flag existed let alone being hanging up for all to see for about 60 years! A few years back I read about it and jumped a train (freebee seniors) and local bus and saw it for myself in MADE at the Eureka Centre. There are some great things to explore not far from home . There sure are many things to explore not far from home. My husband's maternal grandfather's family lived in Ballarat during the gold rush. His ancestor was a jeweller and had a quite successful business I understand. Bendigo is another interesting city to visit for local history and easily reached by train.

Yes you are correct. I can remember going to Tower Hill while at high school for an excursion to look at the various geological rock formations. It is an interesting place to go to. It became a tourist site from the early 1970s. We still visit occasionally.
