Pre embarkation day testing is likely to be part of US rules. The Healthy Sail Panel recommendations developed by NCL and Royal Caribbean, subsequently adopted by CLIA and likely to be the foundation document for CDC rules state that passengers should be tested between 5 days and 24 hours prior to boarding:

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/healthy-sail-panel-full-recommendations.pdf

"Testing for Guests Recommendation 4: All guests joining a ship, regardless of method of travel to the ship, should be tested for SARS-CoV-2 between 5 days and 24 hours before boarding and receive a negative result that is shared with the cruise operator, before coming on board."

We can all guess what the procedure will be for virus testing while pandemic continues.   We can  all guess wrong and  if there turns out to be  a   correct guess, it'll be a long time until it can be confirmed by a  reliable source.

This is standard practice on SeaDream's new long "residency" cruise program for this winter.

Viking is getting set up with volume testing capabilities on board as well.  I am sure they will offer B2B cruises

the bigger problem is whether a b2b will even be allowed. One of the CDCs provisions for cruises restarting is no cruises over 7 days. You would probably have better luck with changing ships or cruise lines but it would be reasonable for a cruise line and the CDC to consider a b2b as a cruise over 7 days.
