Update on 10-day+ Cruises

Seattle, Wash., Nov. 10, 2020 — Holland America Line has reviewed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Framework for Conditional Sailing and is seeking additional clarification to fully understand the requirements. While we await further information, we have (temporarily) stopped selling all cruises eight days and longer which call upon a U.S. port and depart January 1 through November 1, 2021.  For those who are currently booked on one of these cruises, we ask for your patience to receive further information from Holland America Line on whether your cruise is impacted.

 

 

We just rescheduled from a 9 day to a 7 day, which is sailing at the same time in March, to be CDC compliant.  Most cruise lines will let you do this without penalty.  If you have a sailing in early 2021, I would highly recommend that you do reschedule now, because the 7 day and less ships are filling up.

Good advice IMO.  In my case however, the booking for my 10 day is so confused with FCC, FCD, credits from cancelled cruises, cruise insurance and a casino offer rate that I am afraid to try this.  I did notice that another HAL ship is departing FLL on the same day as mine and that this ship appears to have many open cabins in my category, so perhaps HAL will just move us over to that one.

If you do decide to reschedule, I would call them directly to try and get those credits transferred.  We were worried that by the time they cancelled our cruise, there would not be any space left on the other ships.

Our booking is via a casino offer which came with many perks.  Unfortunately, we will lose those perks if we voluntarily reschedule.  As a result, we will take whatever "compensation" is offered to us and will wait to rebook with the hope of getting these same offered perks at some time in the future.
