Ozzmund Posted June 26, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2021 We are considering the September 26 11 day Reflection Cruise out of Rome. This will be the last cruise before Reflection's scheduled drydock. Any concerns regarding a cruise immediately before drydock? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience/thoughts on this topic. marieps Posted June 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2021 There are stories out there that dry dock prep begins in the final days before it happens. I can tell you from personal experience that the first cruise after dry dock can certainly have issues. Xpedition was out of dry dock when we took her in 2012. The suites were still being constructed...we had to beg for them to open the hot tub. The outdoor bar was closed. =X= compensated us well, and on a cruise that's not about the ship we were satisfied. Still, there were those who booked the new suites and got stuck on deck 3...
Cruising89143 Posted June 26, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2021 I prefer to stay away from ships that will either be going in or coming out of a major dry dock/refit. Cruise lines have a tendency to start early and may close off certain areas or start construction early. Same with a ship returning to service after a completed dry dock. Sometimes the ship is not ready and a cruiser may have to deal with unfinished areas.
