nimmo250 Posted August 3, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2021 I am unsure if port or starboard is best side of ship when cruising from Luxor to Cairo what are the pros and cons of each option? any feedback on Viking Nile cruise? what are the best tours? slidergirl Posted September 2, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2021 I didn't do Viking for my Nile cruise, but a small boutique ship (Nile Adventurer). But, the sides of the ship are the same. Going from Luxor to Cairo, port will be on the side of the dock, starboard will face out on the River (or possibly another ship if they do multi-ship docking like many do). Once you are cruising, I really didn't see a difference since there is plenty to see on both banks. I spent most of my ship-time up on the sundeck, so the side of the ship didn't matter. What I will say about tours - if a pre-cruise option to Abu Simbel is offered, take it! Read up on Abu Simbel, it's history and how it was moved from the cliffside up to higher ground. It is an engineering marvel.
