Blue Chip Club - changing tiers on first night of the cruise

I currently am Amethyst tier with Blue Chip and need only 5000 more points to advance to Sapphire. I am sailing in April on Apex and am wondering if I earn enough tier points on the first night will I be able to move to Sapphire at that time or does it only apply at the end of the cruise? Just weighing whether I spend the $500 on a drink package or try to get it through the Sapphire benefit once onboard. Does anyone know how this would work with BCC?

Standardly your new tier benefits do not kick in until the cruise following the one you earned it on. But some players have been reporting recently that casino hosts have been honoring new tier benefits if a tier is achieved mid-cruise. I would go in expecting not to receive the benefits.

I reached enough points for the next tier early in the cruise and was told no tier upgrade on that cruise. I did see a post where someone said they were upgraded...

Yes on our December Apex cruise my husband went from Amythest to Sapphire. The host was Sylvi or Sylvia and of the three Celebrity cruises we took since the restart she was the best. (The Edge Casino host was the worst). It was a 9 day cruise and he made the new tier on day 2. She said they usually DON'T give the new tier benefits on the same cruise but since he made it early on a longer cruise she would check if she could give him the Sapphire benefits. On Day 3 he got the upgrade and all the new tier benefits. My husband is an outgoing and friendly gambler. He regularly has other casino players and casino employees come up to him and compliment him on his outgoing, gregarious personality and that he's visibly having fun. He'll rub the machine and cheer when he hits a jackpot, and he brings a fun vibe into the casino.
