Jackets in the Point???

We are going on the Conquest and I was wondering if men still have to wear jacket and tie to dinner at the Point? If not is the dress code the same as the dinning room?

Men are supposed to have jackets, but I'm not sure about ties. The dress code is "elegant casual."

However, when we ate there, several men, including me, did not have jackets on. I didn't realize before we left that it had a separate dress code, and the only jacket I brought was for my suit.

I believe a jacket and tie was required at the Point when I sailed the Conquest but not completely enforced (is anything?) as I saw a couple of people at a large table together in jusy shirt and tie. The atmosphere at the point however is fairly formal and I would encourage you to dress as you would for any 5 star resturant, which is of course what it is.

The Point has a more formal "suggested dresscode" than the dining rooms. Men are expected to wear at least a coat & tie, a suit is preferable. Just think of it as another formal night in the main dining rooms.

I rented my husband a tux for formal nights. So this means he would have to pack a jacket and tie. Maybe we will just skip it.

The below is from Carnival's web site and it states that jackets for men are required. Some posters have stated that this requirement on some ships have been relaxed, that has not been my experience and I would count on the jacket requirment.

The Supper Club is an intimate restaurant that accepts reservations for when the guest chooses to dine for dinner between the hours of 6:00pm-9:30pm. Reservations are made by telephone from the guest's stateroom. This is an alternative to eating in the Dining Room or the Lido Restaurant. The Supper Club features prime steaks.

The reservation fee is $25 per guest, per entree. This fee includes the wait staffs' gratuity; additional gratuities are optional and may be extended in cash or to the guest's Sail & Sign Account, at the guest's discretion. The reservation fee does not include any beverage that is normally ordered through the bar service such as wine, liquor, soda and bottled water. There is nightly entertainment during dinner such as a cabaret singer or duet along with a large dance floor. There is also a cooking display area where guests can watch the chefs prepare their culinary masterpieces.

The dress code requires that men wear jackets.
