Anyone out there ever stayed on the obstructed balcony cabins on deck 5? We have cabins 5186 and 5188 for Alaska in June and are wondering how "obstructed" these cabins really are. Any insights would be helpful.

Google Carnival Spirit deck plans.  Go to the site that has "cruisedeck" in it's name.  Go to deck 5 and there is a video of cabin 5188.  The lifeboat appears to block looking down but doesn't appear to interfere with your horizontal view.

From my research, those are pretty decent cabins for being "obstructed balcony". The lifeboats in that area are shorter than the tender boats that run from 5142 through 5166 (and 5143 through 5167).

The screenshots below are from a video of the Carnival Legend (sister ship to the Spirit) room 5184 and would be a good representation of your view.  You can't see straight down due to the lifeboats, and because of how far aft your cabins are you won't have a full view to the rear, but overall not bad.
