Excursion schedule

I booked an excursion (through Carnival) on an upcoming Hawaii cruise and noticed that the scheduled end time of the excursion is 6:00 PM, and the ship is scheduled to depart at 6:00 PM as well.  Talk about cutting it close !!!!!  What's up with that?

Well, yes, the ship time is often different than port time, but excursion schedules are always based on ship time (at least that's been the case in over a dozen cruises I've been on).

This particular excursion (Waimea Canyon & Wailua River Tour in Kauai, Hawaii) is an all day affair.  Ships' arrival time is listed as 9:00 AM, excursion start time is listed as 9:30 AM.  Ships' departure time is listed as 6:00 PM (guests back aboard time would generally be at least 30 minutes prior) and excursion finish time is also listed as 6:00 PM.

I'm not really worried about missing the ship because it is, after all, a Carnival excursion.  I was mostly curious about this apparent discrepancy.
