Anyone have recent experience with being tested at the port in Italy?

 Was it nasal? Self administered?

Looks like rules now state you need a test 1 day prior to boarding which will be impossible if  your flying in from the USA the day of the cruise.

TIA

In regards to actual entry into Italy:

*** Effective December 6, 2021, all air passengers 2 years or older (citizens of all nationalities, including U.S. citizens, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated) with a flight departing to the US from a foreign country, are required show a negative COVID-19 viral test result taken no more than 1 day before travel

Unless you are planning on going several days in advance the above would appear to cover your situation.

Thank you.  I think the above is in reference to flying BACK to the USA from foreign countries.  I was curious about flying to Italy and the procedure at the port.

You need to be tested the day prior to embarkation. So if you board on Saturday and you fly in on Saturday, you can test in the USA on Friday and that meet's Princess' definition for testing.

But more importantly, who books their international travel to arrive the morning of the cruise?  You're just asking to have yourself or your luggage miss the boat.

From the Princess FAQ:

When possible we recommend guests take a medically observed viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) prior to leaving home to avoid queues and travel disruptions associated with a possible positive result on the day of embarkation. We understand that this may not be possible based on your travel plans, so for your convenience we are currently offering complimentary antigen testing at the terminal.
