Our May 21st British Columbia whale watching was cancelled. We are on the NCL Encore now, but was hoping that we could find another whale watching tour as we are doing the glacier walk in Juneau. Is it possible to see whales in Ketchikan or Skagway? Or are there any private tours we could do in BC? There’s 6 of us.

Best whale spot of the three is Juneau. Look into a tour that does the glacier and the whales. The whale tour docks are fairly close to the glacier so no need to go back to ship in-between. It may cut your glacier time a little shorter but worth it to see the whales. Especially if going to Glacier Bay or Hubbard glacier. If you mean the helo walk on the ice walk do the walk.  sightcrr

Is your time in Victoria 730P-midnight like next couple of sailings?  I would pass on the thought of whale watching.  Sunset is @ 8:45PM.  The one time I went whale watching at that port it was probably a 30 minute ride out to where the whales were.  And I've never had a pleasant experience getting off the ship in Victoria on an evening stop when the crowd is all trying to rush off the ship at once.  Sorry, no other suggestions.

Yea we are doing the helo walk on the ice so the dh doesn’t want to sacrifice walking on the glacier. We did find a private tour in Ketchikan that so far talking to them, we have had a great experience. So I will keep you all posted. But we are also in Skagway for so long, so wasn’t sure any of the wildlife ones on the water could see whales

The last thing you want to do is mess with the helo trip in Juneau. However at the first info of it being canceled try to book helo walk in Skagway and a whale watch in Juneau. At this short notice many  of the trips may be booked. The whale watch may have to wait for the next trip. Hope it works out. sightcrr

Whether this was a Victoria Port of Call or a Pre-cruise Vancouver stay, you have multiple whalewatching companies available. If you confirm which city (and any port time limits!) I'll add some links to book an indy tour.

Keep in mind.... Juneau offers the majestic humpback whale watching, BC offers the smaller and faster orca whale watches, and not to be confused with ones found on Deck 16.

The best whale watching is in Juneau or Icy Strait Point. Your itinerary probably does not include Icy Strait Point. Our whale watching tour in Juneau (Harv & Marv) included a stop at the glacier.

These Orcas were seen in 2019 in Juneau along with humpback whales. This trip was in the middle of June then.

We are just off the Nieuw Amsterdam, HAL and did the whale watching tour in Juneau (through HAL). We saw 2 humpback whales, but it took hours of careful watching to spot these elusive creatures. That was 2 weeks ago in Auk Bay. We also saw an Orca off the ship.  They're easier to spot if you're on deck 3 or 4.  The top deck is like being on an 11 storey building and looking for an individual on the sidewalk below.
