OK high 70s is not hot to me... our normal temps are in the 74-76 range in our house.. so it sounds like it wont be an issue for us Floridians.  Thanks for clarifying!

High 70s isn't hot to me, either, when outside. But other than in my childhood home without a/c it is never that warm inside. And never had it been that warm inside on a cruise ship before. Like I said, it wasn't a deal breaker for us, but it made it a little less enjoyable for us and it made our stay at the alchemy bar shorter than usual every night.

I just want people to be aware especially if they are sensitive to the inside heat.

Just got off the ship and it is hot.

Not something that will ruin your trip but I can’t understand a ship that’s four years old can be hot in public areas. Cabins are a bit cooler so that helps.

I had a great time on our trip but the ship does has some issues.

Just wanting to share (not hijacking thread) to give more intel to others sailing on the Horizon.

Backstory...only my 3rd cruise.  1st time in 2012 on RC Jewel of the Seas MIA to Bahamas 4 day, 2nd time in 2019 Carnival Splendor LA-Cabo-mztln-PV 7 day.

I'm on the Horizon now headed to GC on the 6 day western.  Lido front elevator hall is warm probably due to the doors to the pool constantly opening and closing. My room feels comfortable , the AC is at the lowest setting.  Im in a front balcony room on the lido with 2 little kids and my wife.

I saw shows in the liquid at 730pm and 930pm and felt fine.  Walking around decks 3, 4 and 5 felt comfortable.  Imax theatre was comfortable, movies are Dr Strange, Top Gun Maverick, and jurassic is opening this Friday (last sea day).  If you know your fish and like to eat fish you will be disappointed although at one specialty restaurant the fish was very good and felt comfortable even with the grill going in front of me (Bondai Tepp). Other seafood i can't speak to as I don't eat them. MDR was comfortable I've gone at 530pm and 830pm.

I will say, we spend a lot of time outdoors and we were off ship the whole day at Ocho. That may affect my temp sensitivity? Also, I am from southern CA, so while i don't deal with humid hot i have desert heat. I know about humidity from living in the tropics and humidity heat is much less desirable.

Day 3  Ocho Rios

relaxing breakfast up on Lido then made our way ashore. Just walked around to he compound a bit and headed to Margarittaville for a few appetizers and drinks and a quick dip into the water on their little beach.nothing much to report on otherwise

Dinner at steakhouse was at 8pm. Food was delicious and service was great. I so wanted to try wagyu beef but it is not on the menu any longer citing supply chain issues. The filet mignon with lobster tail sufficed for sure . The lobster bisque as a starter was real good. Since dinner was late we didn’t have time to get out and about but did call ch the 11:15 adult comedy and did enjoy Cisco’s show. He was not holding back.

heres the steakhouse menu:

My husband was wondering, how big is the filet that you get with the lobster tail in the steakhouse?  We have it booked for our first night and he was wondering how big each was.

Thanks!

I just got off the Horizon this morning. I am quite certain I gained no weight on this ship despite eating like a pig because I'm certain I  sweat it all off.

I have never, ever been so hot on a ship. Every area was miserable. The casino was the worst and was positively miserable(specifically the tables along the back wall). Alchemy was also ridiculously hot(and considering it's out in the open, this doesn't really make sense). I found myself spending more time in my room that I would normally because, thank you Jesus, the cabin was cool.

I spoke to guest services and got nothing but multiple possible reasons and certainly no genuine concern.

I talked to a lot of people on the ship and there was definitely a consensus that everyone was overwhelmed by the heat.

Just goes to show how subjective temperature is.  The OP stated they were comfortable the entire time.  And, not to be snarky, but please don't say you talked to a lot of people, because it isn't every single person on the ship and a consensus could be the 15 or so you talked to (or however many).  There have been just as many that say the temp is fine as there are that say it is hot.  Depends on each individual.  I live in GA and I am always freezing in A/C.  Just very subjective.
