Side by side in San Diego

Does anyone have experience with changing ships, particularly HAL, in San Diego?  We have a cruise coming up that will arrive on the Zaandam and depart the same day on the Koningsdam.  Just wondering what to expect.  Does HAL help with transferring luggage or do we have to depart one ship and haul everything to wherever the baggage drop is for the second one?

You'll have to walk through Immigration/Customs with all of your possessions so chances are you'll have to collect them as per usual and then walk to the next check in area. I would try and get the latest disembarkation time you could because they most likely will not be accepting luggage for the second sailing until very late morning.

Always worth asking HAL though-- a bit of a unique situation. Not quite "in transit" but close.

How many ships are in SD the same day?  In April we had 3, so the third was a block or two away from the other 2.  And the twoo HAL ships were separated, with DIsney between them.  I think the more remote HAL ship was a smaller one.

rincewind,

What an interesting contrast of ships you will be experiencing!  I hope that you will return to the Message Boards, particularly the HAL Board, and post your observations, thoughts, and a report of your two cruises.
