Norway Ports - Where to Book a Tour vs Doing our own Thing

Recommended Posts

Going on Jewel of the Seas in a couple weeks and were originally planning on just playing by ear in most ports, but want to make sure there's nothing we're missing that we should really book a tour for. Our itinerary:

Molde - Renting a car, main intent is to drive the Ocean Road, then with any spare time the Panorama and then just general self-exploration.

Tromso - Nothing planned. Thinking maybe doing the cable car and perhaps Polaria

Honningsvag - Bus Tour up to Nordkapp for 3 hours, rest of the day just self-exploration

Alesund - Nothing planned

Flam - Railway for 2 hours at start of day, then nothing further planned

Haugesund - Nothing planned

Kristiansand - Nothing planned

Alesund has a hop on/off bus, which also brings you to the viewpoint at Mt. Aksla.

Flam railway, book it on line. If more ships are in port trains are often fully booked. If you still have time left check the bus to Stegastein viewpoint.

Kristiansand is a nice small town, easy to walk around.

In Flam, we're doing the railway and then joining a speedboat tour to see the Nærøyfjord-- it's a World Heritage Site. In Haugesund, we're joining a bus tour to head south to Skudeneshavn, but mostly because our ships docks on a Sunday and the public transit schedule is iffy on Sundays. I hear that the church and city hall there are worth checking out, though.
